    10 AmpSolar Charge Controlle

    Maximumcapacity of 10 Amps

or150 Watts from a solar array

    Cut-inVoltage: 13Volts

    Cut-OutVoltage: 14.2 Volts

Pleasenote: A full 12V battery has a voltage of higherthan 12volts. Never deeply discharge your battery; never let your batteryvoltage pass 11.0 volts. It will cause permanent damage to the battery. Use aDMM (Digital Multi-Meter) to measure your battery’s voltage.

IMPORTANT!Please read the instructions before operatingand before and during the use of this product.

It is important to observe and follow industry standard and manufacturer’ssafety procedures when working around batteries and other electrical equipment.

To reduce the risk of electrical sparking when installing solar chargers, please use a thick opaque fabric to cover the panels to disable the panels fromproducing a charge.

Ensure that you are making connections in a well-ventilated area free fromflammable gases or vapours.

This product is designed to be used in 12 volt configurations only.

This product is designed receive charge from 12V solar electric panels only.

For 12 V systems, ALL connections should be in PARALLEL: Positive (+) toPositive (+), Negative (-) to Negative (-).

DO NOT attempt to recharge NON-RECHARGEABLE batteries, as an example NiMhbatteries.

When disconnecting your solar panel, DISCONNECT the battery LAST.

    Installation

Thecharge controller should be placed as close to the battery as possible in a dryventilated area free from water, excessive moisture and weather. If there is adistance between the solar panels and the battery the longest lengths should bebetween the solar panels and the charge controller.

    Connectto Battery:

Usingthe shortest length of wire necessary attach the charge controller positive (+)wire to the positive (+) battery terminal. Then connect the charge controllernegative (-) wire to the negative (-) battery terminal. WARNING:Connection to battery MUST be placed in the aforementioned order— wrongconnections may cause sparking or explosion.

    Connectto Solar Panel:

Usethe connections provided with the 12V solar panel to connect positive (+) wirefrom the solar panel to the positive (+) of the charge controller and thenegative (-) wire from the solar panel to the negative (-) wire of the chargecontroller. Ensure the connections are secure. If no connections are providedwith the solar panel use an appropriately sized copper wire to connect to thecharge controller connecting positive (+) terminal in the junction box of thesolar panel to positive (+) input terminal of the charge controller andnegative (-) terminal in the junction box of the solar panel to negative (-)input terminal of the charge controller. Ensure all connections are secure.

    Operation

Onthe face of the charge controller you will find two indicator lights by whichyou can monitor the charge cycle. The green “Charged” light indicates afull-charged battery. When the battery reaches 14.2 V, the charge controllerwill cut out voltage thereby ensuring no overcharging. The yellow “Charging”light indicates a battery that is being charged. When the battery reaches 13 V,the

BatteryCharge Controller will cut-in and begin charging. Upon connecting ordisconnecting it is normal for one or both indicator lights to flicker for a shorttime.

    FrequentlyAsked Questions

Q.How many solar panels may I connect to the 10 Amp Solar Charge Controller?

A.You may connect up to 150 Watts coming fromone or several solar panels. Remember when connecting multiple solar panels allconnections need to be made in parallel and should be kept to a 12 voltconfiguration.

Q.What types of batteries can I use?

A.All types of rechargeable 12V batteriesincluding automotive batteries, deep cycle (traction) batteries, gel-cellbatteries, and heavy-duty (stationary) batteries. Deep cycle batteries arerecommended.

Q.Do I need to disconnect the charge controllerfrom the battery or solar panels?

A.The solar panels, charge controller and battery may remain connected at alltimes. In the circumstance of a moving application such as a motor home ensurethat each component is securely fastened in place to prevent physical damage toperson or property.
